In addition to gun hold, a trap shooter must establish his or her own visual hold on the trap house.  With trap, we know the trajectory of the bird but not its angle.  This tip shows how to use a combination of “soft focus”, transition to “hard focus” and gentle “pursuit movement” to break each and every target.  COACH: Chris Batha TIME: 3:20

Station 5 is the most difficult station for the right-handed shooter, just as Station 1 is for the left-handed shooter.  This clip shows how to use the stacks of clays to take out the sharp move on the hard right hand target thus improving your chances of breaking the bird. Same technique applies to left-handed shooters on Station 1. COACH: Chris Batha TIME: 1:03

On Station 3 the clay stack (which is used as a memory aid for gun hold) is directly in front of the shooter, and aligned to the center peg.  This is a 50-50 station which allows the shooter to move easily left or right. As we change positions on the course, (such as Stations 2 and 4) the angles to the targets change slightly but these Stations are shot in essentially the same fashion with only slight modification of the gun hold.
